Every major power is now fully aware that AI is not just another technological breakthrough—it is an instrument of economic power, societal transformation, and geopolitical leverage. The stakes are high, and no one wants to be left behind. What became increasingly clear throughout the discussions was that no country has a foolproof blueprint for AI governance. Some want AI to be a free-market playground, others want a cautious, tightly controlled evolution, and then there’s China—steadily advancing, revealing little, but making significant breakthroughs.

Europe’s cautious, regulation-first stance reflects its commitment to ethical AI, while the U.S. sees AI as a strategic tool for maintaining global dominance. Meanwhile, China’s recent breakthroughs, like the DeepSeek R1 large language model, have sent shockwaves through the tech world,(especially Silicon Valley) proving that the AI race will still mirror the multi-polar global power and influence.

Amid the high-stakes negotiations and billion-dollar announcements, one moment stole the show. One hundred and fifty children presented their own manifesto, demanding that AI be ethical, safe, inclusive, and built for people rather than corporate or governmental exploitation. I would like to thinnk of this as AI’s own Greta Thunberg moment. Kids are tired of waiting for adults to figure out the future of a technology that will affect them more than anyone else.
They insisted on laws ensuring ethical development, environmental stewardship, and universal access to AI. They also wanted transparency from tech giants, who often treat AI as their secret sauce. Perhaps the biggest revelation was how we talk to children about AI—or don’t. Do we wave it off as “magic,” or do we offer real explanations that empower them to shape what’s coming

Think of AI like a child playing with Lego Blocks. So, imagine a giant box of LEGO bricks. Each tiny brick represents a piece of information, much like words, numbers, or pixels in a computer system. Early on, the AI doesn’t know how to build anything. It’s as clueless as a baby who has never touched LEGO before. People then show it example after example—thousands of toy houses, cars, and spaceships. Over time, it notices patterns:
"Oh! If I put four wheels on a block, I get a car!"
"If I stack the blocks tall, I get a tower!"
The more examples it sees, the better it gets at figuring out how to build new things—sometimes things it has never seen before!
The next step is to imagine handing this AI a pile of random LEGO bricks. It hasn’t memorized an exact design, so it experiments, snapping pieces together in ways we might never think of. Sometimes it makes something we’ve already seen—a house or a car—but other times it dreams up a spaceship shaped like a dragon or a walking building that no one ever showed it before. This isn’t magic, but a process of trying out ideas in what grown-ups call “combinatorial space,” where the AI sifts through countless possibilities to arrive at something fresh. It might not think or feel the way people do, yet it can still surprise us with structures we never imagined.
That’s the essence of AI for kids. They can think of it as a super-fast LEGO builder that doesn’t always know why certain pieces fit, but discovers intriguing ways to put them together anyway. Whether it’s designing a new car or composing a tune, AI just blends millions of examples into new creations. Once we learn to balance a bike, we understand that it’s about distributing weight and momentum. AI doesn’t really get that deeper logic; it just knows that a certain approach succeeds.
Another big difference is speed. AI systems often rely on massive computer power, which lets them explore thousands (or even millions) of possibilities in minutes—something no human brain could match. So while we take time to master skills through practice and insight, AI bulldozes its way through trial and error with astonishing efficiency. The next time you’re building a LEGO masterpiece, imagine all the ways you could rearrange the bricks. That’s how AI learns too, but on a much larger scale, without ever pausing to ask why one design might be better than another.
So, next time you build something cool with LEGO, think about how many different ways you could have done it. That’s how AI works—trying, learning, and building new things from tiny pieces of information!”
